A Spectrum of Fun!

Who knew that rainbows of color could be so much fun??

I've seen the ombre effect Spectrum pads and I love them, but I really wanted to do something different with mine.  I'm having a Stamp Camp on April 13th that is going to be themed around the Beautiful Blooms Suite so I decided to make a Spectrum pad to compliment the DSP from the Suite!
My pad was inked using Night of Navy, Call Me Clover,
Lovely Lipstick, Calypso Coral, and Grapefruit Grove.

I knew what colors I wanted to use but I wasn't sure what order they would look best in.  I got out my Stampin' Write Markers and started scribbling on some Whisper White scraps to see which colors looked best next to each other; it turned out that my first try was the one I ended up using! Crazy, huh?

I love how this stamp from Amazing Life (148750, $21) looks
when stamped with a Spectrum pad so I just had to use it first!

You may notice that I added a little Pineapple Punch
highlight under the banner (just so it wouldn't feel left out!)

This card really excited me, so even though I had a huge project I was working on for my friend Kay (which you'll see soon!), I had to make another card with the pad!

I've been a little bit obsessed with the Tea Together Stamp Set (148779, $22) so it was my immediate go-to for a quick project!
I made some quick masks with a post-it so my flowers
wouldn't overstamp onto any other parts of the teapot or teacup.

My goal was for the flowers from the Bloom By Bloom Stamp Set (148820, $17) to "mostly match" the flowers in the Happiness Blooms DSP (148795, $11) that I selected for this card.  I used the Lovely Lipstick, Calypso Coral, Grapefruit Grove end of the pad for the flowers and the Night of Navy,Call Me Clover end for the leaves.  The three-dot stamp makes the perfect size for an accent with the flowers; the longer string of dots was just too long.
I think I did a pretty good job of masking the teacup.
It looks like it's sitting in the saucer to me!

I didn't stamp any flowers on the teacup because I wanted room to stamp "Happy Mother's Day", which I stamped using the Spectrum pad!  I did go back with a Blender Pen and the Calypso Coral pad and add a few highlights to the teacup so it would go with the teapot.

I cut my poem stamp in half a couple of weeks ago so I could use the second half of the poem on the inside of the card!  I stamped the first stanza on a tiny rectangle of whisper white and then inked the edges.  I attached it just below the saucer.  The second half is on the inside, trust me on this...I wouldn't lie to you!.

A piece of the Happiness Blooms Suite Satin Calypso Coral ribbon and half a doily finish off this sweet but not TOO sweet Mother's Day card made using just a few stamps and my new favorite ink pad!

If you're interested in learning more about Spectrum pads, I'm having a class all about them on May 1st at 6:00.  It's $20 and you get your own unlinked Spectrum pad to ink-up in class and we're making three cards so you can master your technique!
